Studio Activity: Sketches
Drawing various subjects to familiarise us with different mediums and techniques. Varying thicknesses of felt-tip pens, and grades of graphite and charcoal pencils were explored.A range of subjects were provided to sketch, including bubble wrap, a lemon, onion and garlic, and flora. This was a great warm-up activity that allowed me to relax without overthinking the form and creating rigid drawings. I focused on the basic outlines, lining, shading and stippling techniques during this exercise.
Blind contours of positioned and stacked chairs were also drawn. It was a fun activity, with the goal being to just get something on paper, regardless of quality. The thickness of the fine-liners were changed, we switched to our non-dominant hands, and also tried different techniques in holding the pens and pencils.
On Site Activity: Photography and Sketches
Group 3 had the area near Fig Tree lane, inclusive of the green archway and part of the Quadrangle (D15, on campus maps). Site photos were taken for a base for our Photoshop and Multimedia panorama.
My allocated section |
I sketched the main buildings, plants and important details of my site-section to be used in our Week 4 Multimedia panorama. I used differing pencil grades, liner thicknesses and sketching techniques practised in the studio session before. Evidently, my sketches are rough outlines, which are enough to gain the essence of the site.
